While staying at Aviator’s Landing Crash Pad, people always ask, where should we eat? There are several little eateries close by, but it can also be fun to go on a road trip adventure for food.
A great little mom-and-pop shop is called the Sunrise Café at 811 East Broadway. This little breakfast spot is only open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it serves traditional breakfasts like biscuits and gravy or omelets.
Another locally-owned town favorite is called The Plaza on 2510 North Main Street. The food is delicious and authentic Mexican. It was opened in 2010 when the owner moved his wife and three children to Altus.
If you aren’t in the mood for Mexican food, drive down the street to Roma’s for some Italian food on 609 North Main Street. Roma’s opened in 2005, and is known for making their own pizza dough and garlic rolls fresh each day. The food is also made-to-order, so if you want something like mushrooms, they will can add it in!
However, if you really want a good burger and are willing to venture farther away from the Altus Crash pad, drive over to Meers Store and Restaurant in Meers, Ok. The legendary Meersburger is seven inches in diameter, but the barbecue is the best around.
If you really feel like taking a road trip for food, you can always travel to Norman, Oklahoma City, Okarche, Stroud or Vinita and eat at restaurants shown on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
Norman and Oklahoma City are about two hours from Aviator’s Landing. Mama E’s Wings and Waffles, Nic’s Grill, Leo’s BBQ, Cattlemen’s Steakhouse and Ingrid’s Kitchen are all in Oklahoma City and featured on the show. Stroud is about three hours away, and Vinita is four hours away from the Aviator’s Landing crash pad.
